HR Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Human Resource function, including recruitment, and an innovative and fresh approach to developing and enhancing internal team communications and relations across the business.

Due to the level of responsibility that comes with this role, every day will be different. The role is a new one for the business and will doubtless evolve and be shaped by the successful applicant.

Duties would include:

  • Position and present Newett Homes as the employer of choice within the North of England housebuilding sector
  • Lead and contribute to creating a fresh, innovative, and exciting culture in which people can develop and become the best possible versions of themselves
  • Advise directors and department heads on contractual and legislative strategy and compliance
  • Design and create a HR policy framework and set up a functional HR department
  • Management of team relations and internal communications
  • Administration and management of mandatory training, certification, compliance
  • Overseeing and management of employee relations including absence and off-site working
  • Support the directors and department heads to manage any disciplinary/grievance and other HR matters
  • Alongside the marketing manager, raise the organisation’s profile to enable it to attract and retain the very best people whilst maintaining brand consistency
  • Talent pooling and bar-raising whilst advising department heads and directors on the recruitment and appointment of new people
  • Create a first-class, dynamic onboarding process
  • Managing employee data, right to work, site-based certification, etc

The successful candidate will hold an appropriate CIPD qualification and ideally have a background of working in a construction environment however this is not essential.

What is required is someone with a very positive attitude and a really fresh, outgoing and creative approach to spearheading a new HR function, full of ideas and not afraid to propose and implement new processes.

There will be some site travel in this role so a clean driving licence is essential.
